This guide compares four indoor clubs in Yorkshire's two biggest cities. The two big Leeds clubs have 20 indoor courts between them. The two Sheffield clubs here have nine. Side by side, it's easy to see which booking window, membership and weekly session suits you.
I've played a lot of padel across the Pennines in Manchester. This guide sticks to what the Yorkshire clubs publish, taken from their four Playtomic listings on 19 October 2026. Classes and memberships change, so check the app before you book.
The four at a glance
| Club | Address | Indoor courts | Listed hours | Membership from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Slazenger Padel Clubs Leeds North | Plateworks, Coal Road, LS14 | 12 (3 crystal glass, 9 panoramic) | 06:00 to 00:00 daily | £20 a month |
| Optimum Padel | Cross Green Vale, LS9 | 8 (2 crystal show courts, 6 panoramic) | 06:00 to 23:00 weekdays, 07:00 to 23:00 weekends | £25 a month or £275 a year |
| Club de Padel Sheffield | Boyland Street, S3 | 5 panoramic | 06:00 to 23:00 daily | £15 a month |
| Play Padel Sheffield | Abbeydale Road South, S17 | 4 panoramic, one of them singles | 06:00 to 23:00 daily | £10 a month |
All four take bookings on Playtomic and list free parking. Three of them say outright that non-members can book. Club de Padel's listing doesn't say either way, so check the app. A membership buys you a discount and a longer booking window, which matters more than it sounds.
How far ahead you can book
Good evening slots go first. The booking window is the real perk at most clubs, so here's what each one offers members, as listed.
| Club | Members book ahead | Members cancel | Member discount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slazenger Leeds North | 1 month (non-members 1 week) | 24 hours | 20% off court fees and 20% off retail |
| Optimum Padel | 14 days (non-members 7) | 24 hours | 10% off your share of a court |
| Club de Padel Sheffield | 15 days | 24 hours | 30% off-peak, 15% peak, 15% off food, drink and retail |
| Play Padel Sheffield | 21 days (standard 14) | 48 hours | 20% off your share of a court |
Two extras are worth knowing. Play Padel sells a £75 student membership that runs to the end of June 2027, but its listing says you must buy it by the end of October 2026. And three clubs offer wallet top-ups: Optimum gives £220 for £200, Play Padel gives £110 for £100, and Slazenger's Bronze offer is £200 of court time for £180. Our booking apps guide explains how Playtomic wallets and memberships work.
Leeds
Slazenger Padel Clubs Leeds North
The biggest indoor club in Yorkshire on our list, with 12 courts at Plateworks on Coal Road, LS14 2AL. It's part of the Slazenger Padel Clubs group, which also has sites in Swindon, Blackburn and Exeter. It's also the latest-opening club here, running until midnight every day.
It's the county's tournament venue too. The LTA's 2026 calendar puts three British Tour Grade 2 events at Slazenger Leeds, on 24 to 25 January, 19 to 21 June and 24 to 25 October. The LTA describes the British Tour as the event where the best players in Britain compete for prize money. Check the LTA calendar for the next one, and ask the club about watching.
In mid-October 2026, Playtomic showed free Intro to Padel sessions, a £9 Coffee Morning Mix-In on Wednesdays at 10:00, an intermediate coaching session at £17 and a kids' coaching class at £12.
Optimum Padel
Eight indoor courts at Cross Green Vale, LS9 0SJ, with two crystal show courts. The club says it has the highest indoor roof in Leeds, which lobbers will like. There's a heated social hub and a specialty coffee shop.
Optimum is the friendliest-looking start for adult beginners. It ran separate women's and men's beginner classes at £10 on a Tuesday evening, plus two free intros on the Saturday. Its Sunday Women's Social Mix-In costs £17.50 with a hot drink, and a Monday Men's Social Mix-In costs £25 with a drink.
Smaller and outdoor venues around Leeds
The LTA's Leeds page lists more courts, most of them outdoor: Wetherby Padel Club (6), Pure Padel North Leeds (4), Pukka Padel Leeds (4), Rawdon Golf, Lawn Tennis & Padel Club (2) and Chapel Allerton Lawn Tennis & Squash Club (2). Last Sun Dance Padel Club has one indoor court. Wakefield Sports and Padel Club (4 outdoor) is on the same page, though it's outside Leeds. Playtomic also lists a Slazenger Padel Clubs Leeds South as coming soon.
Of the venues here, Rawdon is the only one that publishes its court prices. Visitors pay £28 an hour off-peak and £36 at peak (16:00 to 21:00 on weekdays), which is £7 or £9 each with four players. You book on ClubSpark up to four days ahead and bring your own rackets and balls. For prices at other UK clubs, see how much padel costs in the UK.
Sheffield
Club de Padel Sheffield
Five indoor panoramic courts on Boyland Street, S3 8AS. The club lists showers, a lounge and a coffee bar.
This is the club for people who already play and want a proper game. Its Playtomic page was full of two-hour Mexicanos at £20, split by level so you play people near your own standard. There was also match play with a coach at £17 and a Women's Improver Hour volley clinic. If you mostly play off-peak, its 30% member discount is the biggest on this page.
Play Padel Sheffield
Four indoor courts on Abbeydale Road South, S17 3LJ. The Padel Paper reported in April 2025 that it opened at Abbeydale Tennis Club as Sheffield's first dedicated indoor padel venue. It was founded by five local friends, and England cricketer Joe Root is one of the co-owners.
It has the only singles court of the four, so two of you can book a court sized for two. It's also the strongest for families. Playtomic showed a Junior Padel class for ages 8 to 15 at £15, an improvers' session at £20 and a Beginners Americano at £20. For early risers there's a 6am Coffee Club on Thursdays at £12. Ladies Friday Night Socials cost £15.
Its sister site, Play Padel Meadowhall, shares the club wallet. Playtomic also lists Padel Elite, Padel Bonito, UNO Padel Club and Moorwood Padel Club nearby. They aren't covered here, so look them up before you go.
What to wear for the bit around the game
All four clubs are fully indoor, so the court isn't your problem in winter. The car park is. So is a long day around a tournament, or a 6am Coffee Club before work. Playing keeps you warm. Watching and waiting don't.
That's where our kit fits. The Mk1 Box Hoodie is 350 g/m2 with a fleeced inside, cut boxy with a drop shoulder. It's £75, which means it ships free in the UK on its own. Pair it with fleece joggers or the Straight Leg Pants, both £60. Every style is in hoodies and bottoms.
