Type "padel courts near me" into Google and you'll get a map full of pins. Handy. But the pin isn't where you book. The court lives inside an app, and which app depends entirely on the club.
So this page does two jobs. First, how to find the courts near you. Then a straight comparison of the booking routes UK clubs actually use, with a lookup table of 53 clubs so you know which app to download before you go looking.
Step one: find what's near you
The fastest neutral starting point is the LTA court finder. You search by postcode, town or city, or tap "Get current location". Pick a venue and it shows the court details and booking information.
What it won't do is book for you. The LTA says to check each venue's booking information to see how you get on court, because some are pay and play, some need a membership and some give members first pick.
Your other option is to search inside the apps. Playtomic's homepage pitches itself as a way to "find courts and players near you". Padel Mates' App Store listing talks about discovering players, matches and facilities near you. MATCHi's site offers to find venues and available times near you. Each one only shows the clubs signed up to it, though. That's why the lookup table further down matters.
The booking routes compared
Here's how the main routes stack up on the things that change your evening: finding a game when you're short of players, matching by level, splitting the cost, and fees.
| Route | What it is | Find players or open games | Levels | Split the cost | Fees to know |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Playtomic | Player app and club system. Padel, tennis, pickleball | Yes. Make a match public or join open matches nearby | Yes, a 0 to 7 level that moves after competitive matches | Yes, each player pays their share | Playtomic's UK fee table shows no service fee on a normal court booking. Open matches carry one (20%, between 24p and 99p), classes 4%. Wallet payments are exempt |
| Padel Mates | Player app used by the clubs that sign up | Match suggestions based on your level, or create your own games | You set your level when you sign up | Yes, split costs with friends in the app | Booking in the app, plus an optional paid Pro subscription |
| MATCHi | Multi-sport app. Padel, tennis, badminton, table tennis, pickleball, squash | Says it matches you with players at the same level | MATCHi levels. Epping and Ongar Padel uses them to band its Americanos (3 to 5, 6 to 8+) | Not stated | Book and pay in the app |
| Nettla | UK-built club platform, launched here in February 2026. Clubs set their own branding inside the Nettla app | Messaging between players, coaches and admins | Not stated | Not stated | Nettla says every player gets every feature, no upsell subscription |
| Club's own app or site | Built for one club or chain. Examples: Stratford Padel Club (runs on Matchpoint), Brentwood Padel Club, David Lloyd | Depends on the club. Brentwood's site has an Open Matches section | Stratford has its own SPC Rating | Depends on the club | Depends on the club. David Lloyd's app is mainly for members |
A word on Playtomic's size. Playtomic says it powers eight out of 10 UK clubs. That's its own claim, reported by The Padel Paper in June 2025. Our hand check of 53 clubs in October 2026 found 24 on Playtomic. So it's the app you'll meet most, but plenty of good clubs sit elsewhere.
Which app gets you which club
This is the lookup table. Find your club, see the app. Every row comes from our club list, where each club was checked against a public source in October 2026: its own site, its booking page, the LTA, iPadel or local news.

Spot the pattern? Chains stick to one route. Every Rocket Padel and Padium site we checked is on Padel Mates. Every Padel Social Club, Padel United and The Padel Hub site in our list is on Playtomic. David Lloyd uses its own app. So if you know the name over the door, you can usually guess the app before you look.
Want the clubs by area instead, with courts and facilities? That's in our padel clubs UK guide, and there are deeper guides for London, Essex and Manchester.
Which route suits you
Pick by what you need, not by which app is biggest.
- You're short of players. Playtomic's open matches are built for this, and Playtomic's June 2025 figures gave the UK the highest ratio of open matches to regular bookings of any country. Padel Mates suggests matches by level too, but only at its clubs.
- Your household plays more than padel. MATCHi covers six racket sports, so one account books the lot where your venues use it.
- You play at one club, every week. Use whatever that club uses. A club's own app can carry its leagues, ratings and member slots, as Stratford's SPC Rating shows.
- You want a membership perk or a regular slot. Ask the club. Epping and Ongar Padel, for one, takes applications for recurring court times on its MATCHi page.
I've played at clubs across London, Essex and Manchester, and the advice I'd give is to pick the club first, then get whatever app it uses.
Before you tap book
A few checks save a wasted trip or a surprise charge.
- Look at the fee line at checkout. Playtomic's help centre says its service fee isn't refunded if you cancel a reservation, but is refunded if you leave an open match or it's cancelled. Club wallets are exempt. Fees can change, so trust what the app shows you on the day.
- Check the roof. Covered and indoor aren't the same thing. Our indoor padel courts guide explains the difference and lists the fully indoor clubs.
- Read the access rules. Pay and play, members only or members first. It's on the club page or the LTA listing.
- Set your level honestly. Level matching only works if the number is close to how you really play.
Court booked. Now the kit
Once the slot's in the calendar, the useful bit is small. Our grip socks are £14, with non-slip grip to cut movement inside the shoe. They come in two bands, UK 4-7 and UK 8-11. For the drive home and the drink after, see what's just landed in new in. UK delivery is free on orders of £75 and over.

FAQs
Is Playtomic free to use? You pay the club's court price in the app. Playtomic's UK fee table shows no service fee on a normal court booking, but a small one on open matches (20%, between 24p and 99p) and on classes, courses, leagues and tournaments. Paying from a club wallet avoids it. Check the fee shown at checkout.
Can I book a padel court without an app? Sometimes. Prested Padel Club in Essex takes member bookings by phone or email, and Padel4all books through its own website. Most clubs we checked use an app, though, so expect to download one.
Why can't I find my club on Playtomic? Because it isn't on it. Each club picks its own system. Rocket Padel and Padium use Padel Mates, Epping and Ongar Padel uses MATCHi, and David Lloyd uses its own app. Search the club's name and look for its "Book" button to see where it sends you.
What's the difference between Playtomic and Padel Mates? Both let you book, find players by level and split the cost. The real difference is which clubs they cover. In our check, Playtomic had 24 clubs and Padel Mates had 9, including every Rocket Padel and Padium site.
