Padel in Manchester: Where to Play, Club by Club

Manchester has two problems for padel players. It rains, and most people can't get on court until after work. So this guide is built around those two questions: is there a roof, and how late can you play?

The city has had a push. The LTA says Manchester was the first UK city to agree a local padel plan, between the LTA, Manchester City Council and Manchester Active. Today you can book a court here at 05:30 on a Thursday or finish a game at 03:00 on a Saturday.

I've played at loads of clubs in Manchester, but for this guide I opened each club's Playtomic listing or website in October 2026 and noted only what was there. Prices and sessions move, so confirm in the app before you set off.

Two things fall out of that. If you finish work late, Carbon is the only club here still open after midnight. If you want a game before the commute, Carbon, Trafford City, Pure Padel and Soul all open at 06:00 on weekdays.

Carbon Padel Club, Vaughan Street

Carbon's Playtomic page lists 17 courts under one roof at Unit 9 Vaughan Street Industrial Estate, M12 5BT. The LTA's Manchester page still says 11, so it may have grown since. Look closer and the 17 are 12 doubles courts and 5 singles courts. That matters if there are only two of you, because every other club in this guide lists doubles courts only. Three of the doubles courts are listed with video recording, and one is listed with dimmed lighting.

What Playtomic showed for the week of 19 October:

  • A free Intro to Padel session, then open clinics at £25 (beginner) and £30 (intermediate)
  • Socials from £10 (a Monday morning one) to £25, with a Wednesday Social Americano at £17.50
  • A Carbon Black membership at £20 a month or £200 a year
  • Free parking, a store, café, changing rooms and racket hire
  • Pickleball courts too

Court hire prices weren't shown on the listing.

The Padel Club TraffordCity, Trafford Way

Trafford City puts every court rate on its website, which none of the other Manchester clubs here do:

Courts Peak (per hour) Off-peak (per hour)
1 to 4 £48 £36
5 to 9 (Game Cam) £48 £36
10 and 11 (outdoor) £42 £32

Peak is weekdays 16:00 to 23:00 and all day at weekends. Off-peak is weekdays 06:00 to 16:00. Split four ways, an off-peak hour on an outdoor court is £8 each. Courts 5 to 9 are Game Cam courts, so you can film the match. Courts 10 and 11 are the outdoor pair: cheaper on a dry night, a gamble on a wet one.

It's at 15 Trafford Way, M41 7JA. The club lists a shop, clubhouse and coffee bar, showers, lockers, spectator seating, racket hire, EV charging and four hours of free parking (register when you arrive). Dogs are welcome. Book through Playtomic. There's a head coach for coaching and academy enquiries.

Powerleague Manchester Nicholls, Ardwick

Six roofed panoramic courts at the Nicholls Community Football Centre, Dalberg Street, M12 6BN, just off Hyde Road. It's in the same M12 postcode as Carbon, so it's the obvious backup when one is full. Courts 1, 4 and 5 are listed as camera courts.

This is the cheapest way into a competitive game on the list. Playtomic showed a free Intro to Padel class, coached sessions like Master the Bandeja at £18, and four socials, all at £10. Two of them were Padel and Pizza Americanos, and the beginner and intermediate socials came with free coffee.

Free parking, café, changing rooms, lockers and racket hire are all listed.

Pure Padel Manchester, Dutton Street

Six indoor panoramic courts at 24 Dutton Street, M3 1LE, on the Cheetham Hill edge of the city centre. The Padel Paper put it about 10 minutes' walk from the AO Arena and close to Victoria station, so it's the one to pick if you're coming in by train. The club's listing describes a 9.5m roof and a raised mezzanine that looks down on a show court. Court rates weren't shown on the listing.

What it does best is sessions for people who don't fit the usual mould. That week Playtomic showed an intro at £12, a free intro for over 60s, an Over 60s Beginner Social and a Ladies Beginner Social at £12 each, and a Ladies Saturday Social at £15. If you're bringing a parent or a friend who has never played, start here.

Just outside the city

Soul Padel Stockport. Next to Decathlon on George's Road, SK4 1DN. Four covered, canopied courts and two outdoor ones, and it's an LTA-registered venue. Most of its classes are £10, including an Intro to Padel, Beginner's Guided Games and a Soul Sisters' Social. Americanos start at £12.50. Good if you live south of the city and don't fancy the drive into Ardwick.

Ignite Padel Speke, Liverpool. A trip, so it's for people out west or after a change. Confidentials reported it was due to open on 1 December 2025 with six indoor courts and four covered ones, at 14 Stirling Road, L24 1AG, and Playtomic now takes bookings for all ten. It's open 06:00 to midnight every day, and The Padel Paper reported the owners want it to become a 24-hour site. Group beginner lessons are listed at £25. There's a licensed bar and a coffee shop.

Also on the LTA's Manchester list: The Northern on Palatine Road, West Didsbury (two outdoor courts), Club de Padel on Owen Street, M15 (four outdoor courts) and Manchester Padel Club at South Manchester Sports Club in Heald Green (four covered and three outdoor). Playtomic also lists The Pollen Club, Life Leisure Houldsworth Village and Life Leisure Grand Central in Stockport, and Stay Padel and Glass Padel Club in Stalybridge, as nearby. Look those up before you go.

Dressing for a 2am finish

Carbon's hours create a problem no other city guide needs to solve. You come off court at 02:00, damp, and walk out into a Manchester car park in the middle of the night.

That's where our kit comes in. Not on court, but for the bit after. Pull fleece joggers over your shorts before you leave the court, so you're not stood shivering by the car. Put the Mk1 Box Hoodie on top. At 350 g/m2 with a fleeced inside, it holds the heat in for the drive home, and the drop shoulder leaves room for a training top underneath. In January add an organic ribbed beanie.

And if your Saturday night is Powerleague's Padel and Pizza Americano, the tee picks itself. The Padel & Pizza tee is 100% cotton at 305 g/m2, £48 on its own and part of the 2 for £90 range.

The rest of the trousers are in bottoms, and measurements for every piece sit in the size guide. UK delivery is free on orders of £75 and over, so the hoodie ships free on its own. More guides are in the journal.
