Christmas Jumper Day Padel: A Sweatshirt You'll Still Wear in March

Christmas Jumper Day 2026 is on Thursday 10 December. Save the Children has run it since 2012. You wear a festive jumper, you give a couple of pounds, and the money helps children in the UK and around the world.

Most of those jumpers get worn once. This page is about the padel version: a club social or a work team doing the day properly, in a sweatshirt or hoodie you'll still pull on after a cold Tuesday match in March. There's also a date problem you need to know about first.

Padelism isn't connected to Save the Children. This is just how I'd do the day as a player.

What Christmas Jumper Day asks of you

  • The date. Thursday 10 December 2026. Save the Children says groups can choose another day that suits them.
  • The donation. It suggests £2 for adults and £1 for children, or whatever you can afford.
  • Signing up. Schools, workplaces and community groups can sign up on the Christmas Jumper Day page. Workplaces get posters, activities and a quiz. It's also worth asking your employer if it will match what the team raises.
  • Paying in. A bucket, a text donation or a JustGiving page all work.

That "another day" line matters for padel. Your club's night doesn't have to land on a Thursday.

The date clash: 10 December is also our last order day

Here's the bit nobody mentions. 10 December 2026 is Christmas Jumper Day. It's also the last day to order from us for UK delivery before Christmas.

Those are two different deadlines. Order on the 10th and it should reach you before Christmas Day. It won't be on your back that morning.

Everything we make is made to order. In the UK that takes 7 to 10 working days from the day you order. So count back from the day you want to wear it.

You want to wear it on Order by
Christmas Jumper Day, Thursday 10 December Thursday 26 November
Your club's own jumper night Two full weeks before it (10 working days)
Christmas Day, as a present 10 December, UK only
A delivery outside the UK As early as you can. It takes 7 to 14 working days

26 November is ten working days before the 10th, the top of our window. Plenty of orders arrive sooner. I still wouldn't bet a group photo on it. Every other Christmas date, including gifts sent abroad, is in our Christmas delivery dates guide.

Taking Jumper Day to the padel club

Padel suits this day better than most sports, because so much of the evening happens off the court. You arrive, you stand around waiting for the court before yours, then you finish and sit down with a drink. That's where a jumper earns its place.

A simple way to run it:

  1. Pick the night. Use the real date if your club has a session on Thursday 10 December. If not, use your own Christmas social. Save the Children is fine with either.
  2. Set a number on the door. £2 a player matches Save the Children's suggestion for adults. A JustGiving page means nobody needs cash.
  3. Jumpers on for the warm-up and the photo. A 350 g/m2 sweatshirt is a lot to play a full hour in. Take it off when you get hot and put it straight back on when you stop. The winter padel guide covers what goes underneath.
  4. Keep them on at the bar. That's where the best picture gets taken anyway.

For the playing part, our Christmas padel social run sheet has rotations for 8, 12 or 16 players and a score sheet you can print.

Doing it as a work team? Save the Children's workplace pack covers the posters and the quiz. If you'd like the whole team in matching tops, we print custom tees and hoodies for companies and teams. Email hello@padelism.co.uk, and the corporate padel day guide covers the rest of the planning.

The March test

Before you buy anything for the day, ask one question. Will I still wear this in March?

A reindeer knit fails. It's great on the 10th and back in the loft on the 11th. Save the Children itself suggests a secondhand jumper over a new one, because it saves money and is kinder to the planet. If you only want something for one day, that's the right call.

If you're buying new anyway, buy something that works for the rest of the season. For a padel player, that means:

  • Warm enough for a cold car park. Heavy fabric, not a thin knit.
  • Easy to layer. Over a tee, under a coat, at the club, at work, at home.
  • Easy to wash. Ours go in at 30°C on a gentle cycle.
  • Not festive. Pin tinsel on it for the day. Take the tinsel off the next morning. The sweatshirt carries on.

I'll be honest. We don't make Christmas jumpers. No snowflakes, no pom-poms. We make heavyweight padel clothing, and I wear it pretty much every day, to the gym, to work meetings and on nights out in London. That's the March test passed before you've bought it.

Sweatshirt or hoodie for the day?

Both are 350 g/m2, in a blend of 42% cotton, 53% polyester and 5% other. For Jumper Day the choice comes down to two things: where the tinsel goes, and whether you want a hood for the car park. The full side-by-side is in our hoodie vs sweatshirt guide.

Pick a sweatshirt if you want a flat crew collar that sits neatly under a coat, and a clear chest for tinsel or a badge. Sweatshirts are £60. The product pages call them a loose unisex fit and true to size, so order your usual size. Loose, but not boxy. All three are in sweatshirts.

Pick a hoodie if you play outdoors, want a hood for the walk from the car, or like an oversized shape. Hoodies are £75, fleeced inside and boxy with a dropped shoulder. They run big, so size down for a regular fit or take your usual size for the full boxy look. Browse them in hoodies, and check the size guide if you're unsure.

UK delivery is free on orders of £75 and over, so a hoodie ships free on its own. If a few of you are ordering sweatshirts for the same night, put them through as one order and the total clears £75 straight away.

Three picks for a club jumper night

Sunday Padel Club Sweatshirt, £60. My first pick for a club night, because the name reads like a club you already belong to. Sunday Padel Club is a Padelism original since 2025, designed that April and first sold that September. It comes in ten colours, so a group can match or mix. The rest of the line is in the Sunday Padel Club collection, and the story of Sunday Padel Club explains where the name came from.

Sunday Padel Club Hoodie, £75. Same design with a hood. Free UK delivery on its own.

Mk1 Box Hoodie, £75. The plainest thing we make, in eight colours including Black, Navy Blue, Eden Green and Oat Gray. Plain enough for one day of tinsel and a whole winter after.

Women's cropped hoodies are £70 and fit more true to size. Sunday Padel Club, Game Set Matcha and Wellness Club are all in the women's collection.

Returns are open for 30 days, you pay the return postage, and size exchanges are accepted. Details are on the returns page.

Christmas Jumper Day questions

When is Christmas Jumper Day 2026? Thursday 10 December 2026. Save the Children says groups can choose a different day if that suits them better, which helps if your club's Christmas social falls on another night.

If I order on 10 December, will it arrive in time for Christmas Jumper Day? No. Our clothing is made to order and takes 7 to 10 working days in the UK. To wear it on the 10th, order by Thursday 26 November. An order placed on the 10th is aimed at Christmas Day.

How much should each player give? Save the Children suggests £2 for adults and £1 for children, or whatever people can afford. A JustGiving page saves anyone hunting for coins at the club.

Does it have to be a proper Christmas jumper? The day is built around festive jumpers. A plain sweatshirt with tinsel or a festive badge pinned on does the job, and you keep wearing the sweatshirt once the tinsel comes off.

Can our club hold Jumper Day on a different date? Yes. Save the Children says groups can pick another day, so a club social the week before or after works. If you're ordering sweatshirts for it, the date that matters is 10 December, our last UK order day.
