Game, Set, Matcha and the Other Women's Designs, Explained

There are four cropped hoodies in our women's range, and each one carries a different design. Game, Set, Matcha. Cute and Competitive. Wellness Club. Sunday Padel Club. Two are jokes, one is a mood and one is a Padelism original since 2025.

This page goes through what each graphic actually shows, the wordplay behind the name, where the print sits, and how the product photos style it. All four are £70 and live in the women's collection.

The short version: Game, Set, Matcha is a small character print on a cropped zip. Cute and Competitive is a type-only design that saves its big moment for the back. Wellness Club is the loud one, a big arched PADELISM across the front. Sunday Padel Club is the quietest, a small coffee-and-racket mark on a cropped zip.

Game, Set, Matcha

The wordplay

Padel uses the same scoring system as tennis, according to the LTA. Points make games, games make sets, and most matches are best of three. So "game, set and match" is the phrase that ends it.

Swap the last word and you get matcha, the finely ground green tea powder. The name works because it sounds right first time. You only clock the joke on the second read.

What the artwork shows

It's a small print on the left chest. Across the top, GAME, SET, sits in an arched serif. Below it is a cartoon character: an iced drink cup with a domed lid, a straw and a smiling face. It has legs and trainers and walks mid-stride, holding a racket in one hand and what looks like a small whisk in the other. A few sparkles sit around it. Matcha is made with a whisk, so that's the giveaway. Underneath the character, MATCHA. finishes the line, full stop included, with a small Padelism. script wordmark below.

On the Oat Gray and Flower Gray hoodies the ink is a deep green, which suits a matcha joke. On Black it switches to a light cream. The back is plain.

How to wear it

This one is a cropped zip with a drawstring hood. The product photos pair it with light denim shorts and white trainers, zipped up. Because the print is small, it reads as a neat detail from a distance and a joke up close. That makes it easy to wear somewhere you don't want a big slogan, like the office or a lunch.

Worn open, it goes over a tee. The same design also comes as a Game, Set, Matcha crewneck tee (£44), if you want the joke in summer weight too.

Cute and Competitive

The wordplay

Two words that don't usually share a sentence. The design doesn't argue for one over the other. It says you can be both, and plenty of people on a padel court on a Tuesday night are.

What the artwork shows

No drawing this time, just type. "Cute" sits on the top line and "Competitive" on the bottom, both in a high-contrast serif. A small italic "and" is tucked in between them, almost an aside.

On the front it's a small lockup on the left chest. Turn round and the same design runs large across the back, with the Padelism. script centred underneath. It's the only one of the four cropped hoodies with a big back print. From the front it's quiet. Walking away, it isn't.

How to wear it

This is a pullover, not a zip. The product photos style it with light denim shorts and white trainers. Since the back does the talking, keep things simple underneath. Plain bottoms, nothing else with writing on it.

The name also sits on the Cute and Competitive cropped tee (£44), the shorter, fitted option for warmer days.

Wellness Club

The wordplay

Wellness clubs usually mean a spa, a sauna or a 7am class. This one puts padel in that slot. It treats the weekly game as the wellness routine, with the drink afterwards very much included.

What the artwork shows

This is the biggest front print of the four. PADELISM runs across the chest in tall, arched varsity-style capitals, filled in and edged with an outline, the kind of lettering you'd see on a college sweatshirt. Directly under the arch, WELLNESS CLUB sits in small serif capitals. The contrast between the two is the point: one shouts, the other whispers. The back is plain.

It's also the only design of the four where the brand name is the main event. On the other three, Padelism appears as a small script signature.

How to wear it

A pullover with a centred print, so it's the easiest of the four to style. The product photos show it as a set with the Wellness Club Pants (£60). Those carry a small version of the arched PADELISM on the thigh, so the two read as one outfit rather than a hoodie that happens to match.

There's also a Wellness Club crewneck tee (£44) for when it's too warm for the hoodie.

Sunday Padel Club

The wordplay

Less a pun, more a picture of a morning: coffee, a court and the same faces every week. Sunday Padel Club is a Padelism original since 2025. The whole story, from the first design to the launch, is in the story of Sunday Padel Club.

What the artwork shows

Two small line drawings, a takeaway coffee cup with steam and a padel racket, sit beside SUNDAY PADEL CLUB stacked on three lines. On the cropped hoodie it's on one side of the chest, and the Padelism. script sits on the other side of the zip. That makes it the only one of the four with a print on both sides of the front. The back is plain.

How to wear it

Like Game, Set, Matcha, it's a cropped zip with a drawstring hood. The product photos style it with black shorts and dark trainers, which is a good shout if you mostly wear darker colours. The two small chest marks keep it balanced, so it looks tidy zipped or open.

It's also the only one of the four designs that crosses into the unisex range, as a hoodie, a sweatshirt and a heavyweight tee. They're all together in the Sunday Padel Club collection. The women's crewneck tee (£44) carries it too.

Questions about the women's designs

What does Game, Set, Matcha mean?

It's a play on "game, set and match", the phrase that ends a match in tennis and padel, which share a scoring system. The last word becomes matcha, the powdered green tea. The artwork backs it up with a cartoon iced drink cup holding a racket and a whisk.

Which women's cropped hoodie has a print on the back?

Only Cute and Competitive. It has a small version on the chest and a large one across the back, with the Padelism. script underneath. Game, Set, Matcha, Wellness Club and Sunday Padel Club all have plain backs.

Can I get these designs in the unisex range?

Sunday Padel Club, yes. It comes as a unisex hoodie, sweatshirt and heavyweight tee as well as the women's pieces. Game, Set, Matcha, Cute and Competitive and Wellness Club are women's designs only.

Where does the Padelism name appear on each design?

It changes from design to design. On Wellness Club it's the headline, in big arched capitals across the chest. On Game, Set, Matcha it's a small script under the artwork. Cute and Competitive puts the script under the large back print. Sunday Padel Club gives it its own spot on the chest, on the opposite side of the zip to the club mark.
