This guide has two halves. First, what the LTA actually advises for court clothing, and what it leaves to you. Then the part I know best: outfits for before and after the game, built only from the Padelism women's range.
I make clothes for off court, so the court half sticks to what the governing body says.
The short answer: stretchy, breathable kit that wicks sweat, court shoes with a herringbone or mixed-pattern sole (non-marking indoors), and a lightweight layer in winter. Nothing about colour, length or style. Then something dry and warm for afterwards.
What the LTA says about padel clothing
The LTA's padel kit guide, made with its partner Pro:Direct, says you can play in any comfortable activewear and trainers. Padel-specific kit can help, but it isn't required.
For clothing it gives three tests:
- Stretch fabrics, so nothing restricts you on fast points.
- Moisture-wicking, to keep you dry through long rallies.
- Breathable layers, which it calls essential for outdoor and warm-weather play.
Its one tip for the cold: layer with lightweight warm-ups in winter, to keep your muscles loose.
For shoes it's more specific: lateral support, a durable outsole and cushioning, because padel is full of side steps, split steps and lunges. Herringbone or mixed-pattern soles grip the textured court. For indoor courts, it recommends non-marking soles.
What it doesn't say
There's no separate advice for women. Apart from links to shop women's ranges, the guide doesn't mention skirts, skorts, leggings, dresses or sports bras at all. The same three fabric tests apply to everyone.
Competition is similar. The LTA's 2025 summary of changes to its Competition Regulations says the old clothing rules, which set size limits on logos, were removed. It proposes players can wear whatever they like, as long as it's appropriate and doesn't cause offence. For what individual clubs ask, see our UK padel dress code guide.
So skort, shorts or leggings is your call. Whatever you pick should move, breathe and dry.
Put your own kit through the tests
Check what's already in your drawer against the LTA's points. These are home checks, not rules.
| What you're choosing | The LTA point it has to meet | A quick check |
|---|---|---|
| Top | Moisture-wicking and breathable | Does it still feel light after a sweaty gym session, or does it cling? |
| Skort, shorts or leggings | Stretch | Do a deep lunge and a sideways step in front of a mirror. If the waistband shifts or the fabric pulls, pick another pair. |
| Winter layer | Lightweight warm-up | Can you take it off at the bench in seconds, without the top underneath coming with it? |
| Shoes | Lateral support, herringbone or mixed sole, non-marking indoors | Turn them over and look at the pattern. Check your venue's booking page if you're unsure whether it's indoor. |
Socks aren't in the LTA guide. If you want a pair for the bag, our grip socks are £14, sold in shoe-size ranges. Cold nights have their own guide: winter padel, what to wear.
The off-court half: one colour runs through the whole range
This is where our women's range comes in. Eleven pieces: four cropped hoodies, four tees, the Track Jacket, the Wellness Club Pants and the Core Shorts.
I went through the colour list of every piece:
- Black comes in all eleven.
- Flower Gray comes in ten. The only one without it is the Track Jacket.
- White comes in nine. The Wellness Club and Cute and Competitive hoodies are the two without it.
Pick Black or Flower Gray as your base and anything you add later will match, so you can build up slowly.
Four outfits from the women's range
1. Summer evening, then the terrace
Core Shorts (£42) and the Cute and Competitive Cropped Tee (£44). Total £86.
The shorts come in six colours, including Pink, Yellow and Cream Apricot. The tee comes in White, Flower Gray, Apricot and Black. A White tee over Pink or Yellow shorts is the bright option. Flower Gray on Flower Gray is the quiet one. The tee is a thin 265 g/m2 cotton and spandex, a summer weight next to the 310 to 420 g/m2 hoodies and jacket.
2. The matching set for after an evening game
Wellness Club Pants (£60) and the Game, Set, Matcha or Sunday Padel Club Cropped Hoodie (£70). Total £130.
The pants and both hoodies come in exactly the same four colours: Oat Gray, White, Flower Gray and Black. Any one gives you a matching set. The pants are wide leg with an elastic waist and drawstring, and both pieces are the same 310 g/m2 cotton blend.
3. The zip-up
Track Jacket (£78) over a crewneck tee (£44). Total £122.
The jacket is the heaviest women's piece, at 420 g/m2, cut cropped and loose with a stand collar and a zip, so it's off at the bench and on again in seconds. It comes in Red, Plum Purple, White and Black. Try Red over a White Wellness Club tee. On its own it clears free UK delivery.
4. Spring, when you can't decide
Core Shorts (£42) and the Wellness Club Cropped Hoodie (£70). Total £112.
Hoodie on top, legs out. The Wellness Club hoodie is one of the two thicker 350 g/m2 cropped hoodies. Match them in Flower Gray or Black.
Prefer something bigger? The unisex Mk1 Box Hoodie (£75, 350 g/m2, fleeced inside) is cut oversized and boxy, so check its chart.
More ideas for buying for someone else are in padel gifts for her, and the full court-to-bar routine is in what to wear for padel.
Sizing the women's range
The women's pieces fit more true to size than our unisex range, so start with your usual size. Most run S to XL. The exceptions are the Cute and Competitive Cropped Tee (S to 2XL), the Wellness Club Pants (XS to L) and the Core Shorts (S to L).
Each product page has its own size chart. Measure something you own and compare, or use the size guide. The full breakdown across every Padelism range is in Padelism sizing explained.
The unisex heavyweight tees are different. They're cut oversized, so size down for a regular fit or keep your usual size for the oversized look. The £44 women's tees aren't part of the 2 for £90 tee deal, which covers the £48 heavyweight tees only.

FAQ
Is there a separate padel dress code for women? No. The LTA's kit guide gives the same advice to everyone: stretch, moisture-wicking and breathable fabrics, plus court shoes. It says nothing about skirts, skorts or colours.
Can I play padel in leggings? The LTA guide doesn't rule anything in or out by type. Its tests are stretch, moisture-wicking and breathability. If your leggings pass those and let you lunge freely, they meet the guidance.
Which Padelism women's pieces make a matching set? The Wellness Club Pants with either the Game, Set, Matcha or the Sunday Padel Club Cropped Hoodie. All three come in the same four colours: Oat Gray, White, Flower Gray and Black. Pick any one and the set matches.
Which colour goes with everything in the women's range? Black. It's available in all eleven women's pieces. Flower Gray is in ten of them, everything except the Track Jacket.
Are the women's tees included in 2 for £90? No. The £44 women's crewneck and cropped tees sit outside the deal. It applies to the £48 heavyweight tees.
