Padelism Sizing Explained: Hoodies, Tees and Sweatshirts

A size chart is a list of numbers. It doesn't tell you which letter to put in your bag. That's what this page is for: one rule per product, then the things the chart won't tell you. Like why a small hoodie and an XL sweatshirt are the same width across the chest.

By "your usual size" I mean the letter you'd grab in most shops without thinking about it.

The short version

You're buying What to order Sizes made
Heavyweight tees Usual size for the oversized look. One size down for a regular fit XS to XXL
Hoodies (Mk1, Sunday Padel Club, Bagel Boyz) They run big. One size down for a regular fit S to 2XL
Sweatshirts True to size. Your usual size S to 2XL
Women's range More true to size. Your usual size Mostly S to XL
Grip socks Your shoe size UK 4-7, UK 8-11

If you read nothing else, that table covers it. The rest explains why, and helps when you're between sizes.

Padel hoodie sizing

All three hoodies share the same 350 g/m2 cotton blend, the same box cut and the same chart. The product pages say it plainly: they run big, so size down for a regular fit.

You want Order
A regular fit that sits closer to the body One size down
The wide, boxy, drop-shoulder shape it's designed with Your usual size
Room for a tee underneath Either works. Even a small hoodie is wider than every tee up to XL

That last row comes straight from the charts. A small hoodie is 66 cm across the chest. Our XL tee is 64.5 cm. Unless you're pairing a small hoodie with an XXL tee, the tee underneath has room.

Same letter, three different shapes

This is the bit most people miss. A medium hoodie, a medium sweatshirt and a medium tee are not the same size. Here are the size M numbers from each product page.

Size M Chest width Length
Heavyweight tee 59.5 cm 76 cm
Sweatshirt 62 cm 70 cm
Box hoodie 68 cm 72 cm

Three things fall out of that:

  1. The hoodie is the widest in every letter. That's the box cut, and it's why sizing down works. The full hoodie against sweatshirt numbers, size by size, are in hoodie vs sweatshirt.
  2. The tee is the longest of the three. Wear a medium tee under a small hoodie (70 cm long) and roughly 6 cm of tee will show below the hem. Some people like that layered look. If you don't, a small tee is 74 cm, so less of it shows.
  3. Don't buy the same letter across the board. Decide per garment. If you're usually a medium and want a regular fit, that could mean a small Mk1 Box Hoodie and a medium Mk1 Sweatshirt. Same collection, different letters.

Tee sizing

The heavyweight tees are 100% cotton at 305 g/m2, unisex and cut oversized. When I started Padelism I wanted tees like the streetwear I'd always loved, "heavyweight cotton t-shirts that hang really nice". The roomy cut is part of how they hang.

You want Order
The oversized look they're designed for Your usual size
A regular fit One size down
A regular fit, but you're usually an XS XS. It's our smallest, so expect a little room
More length to wear over shorts or joggers Your usual size. Each size adds 2 cm of length

Any two £48 heavyweight tees are £90 at checkout through the 2 for £90 range. If you want ideas on wearing an oversized tee off court, the men's off-court style guide goes into it.

Sweatshirt sizing

The sweatshirts are true to size, with a loose unisex fit. Order your usual size.

You want Order
The fit as designed Your usual size
A closer fit Your usual size, then compare the chest width with a sweatshirt you own
A layer over a tee Your usual size. The M is 62 cm across, against 59.5 cm for a medium tee

The trap is habit. If you sized down on a hoodie, go back to your usual letter here. For building a winter set around a sweatshirt or hoodie, see what to wear for winter padel.

Women's sizing

The women's range fits more true to size, so start with your usual size. The cropped hoodies are cut cropped and loose with a drop shoulder. The crewneck tees are cropped and fitted, with a bit of stretch.

Piece Order Sizes made
Cropped hoodies, £70 Your usual size S to XL
Crewneck tees, £44 Your usual size S to XL
Cute & Competitive cropped tee, £44 Your usual size S to 2XL
Track Jacket Your usual size S to XL
Core Shorts and Wellness Club Pants Your usual size, then check waist and length on the product page S to L, and XS to L

Wearing one of the unisex tees or hoodies instead? Then the unisex rules above apply, not these. The £44 women's tees aren't in the 2 for £90 deal.

How to use the size guide

The size guide gives you numbers. The best ones to use are on each product page: tap Size guide next to the sizes and you get that garment's own chart. As the table above shows, the hoodie, sweatshirt and tee charts are all different.

One tip helps more than any other. Compare like with like. Measure a hoodie you own against our hoodie chart, and a tee against the tee chart. Checking your favourite tee against a hoodie chart will tell you to buy the wrong size.

Buying for someone else? The gift size guide shows how to work out their size without asking. Or skip sizing altogether with the gifts for non-players guide.

If the size is wrong

You've got 30 days to return it, and size exchanges are fine. The item needs to be unworn, unwashed and with the tags on, so try it on at home before it goes in the wash. Return postage is on you unless the item is faulty. Everything is made to order, so a new size takes 7 to 10 working days to reach you in the UK. Buying for Christmas? The last UK order date is 10 December, and ordering earlier leaves time for a swap. The returns page has the full steps.

Sizing questions

Do the hats and grip socks come in sizes? The caps, dad hat and beanie have no size option, so you only pick a colour. The grip socks come in two shoe-size ranges, UK 4-7 and UK 8-11.

I'm between two sizes on a tee. Which one? Go with the look you want. The smaller one gives a regular fit, because the tees run big. The bigger one gives you more of the oversized shape they're designed for.

Do the £38 Classic tees fit like the £48 ones? Yes. The Classic CC and Classic LC tees use the same chart, XS to XXL, so the same rule applies. The difference is price, and they aren't part of 2 for £90.

What's the largest size you make? Tees go up to XXL. Hoodies and sweatshirts go up to 2XL. Most women's pieces stop at XL, and the Cute & Competitive cropped tee goes to 2XL.
