Edinburgh padel is small, and that's useful to know before you start searching. The LTA's Edinburgh page lists four venues and ten courts between them. Add Game4Padel Thistle, which books on MATCHi, and you have five places to play, plus a David Lloyd club at Shawfair.
Here's the other thing. No Edinburgh venue in this guide has a fully indoor padel court. Most courts are covered: there's a roof over your head, but you're still outside. The LTA describes each of its Edinburgh venues as having "outdoor covered" courts, and the rest are open outdoor courts. That changes how you book, what you pack and how you dress, so this guide covers that too.
Every detail below comes from each venue's own booking page or website, checked in October 2026. Prices and classes change, so check before you go.

What "covered" means on an Edinburgh night
A roof stops rain. It doesn't stop wind, and it doesn't warm the air. On a covered court in October you're playing in roughly the same temperature as the street outside, just dry.
Three things follow from that.
- Wind moves the ball. A lob that would drop nicely indoors can drift. Expect it, and don't blame your racket.
- You cool down fast between points. On small sites with two or three courts, you may also wait for the group before you to finish. That's when you get cold.
- Your hands go first. Cold fingers mean less feel. Keep gloves in your pocket for the walk in and take them off to play.
Portobello's own listing says it's "just minutes from the beach". Lovely in summer. In January, bring an extra layer.
The good news: the courts stay playable. Thistle's page says its two covered courts are "opened all year round". Edinburgh Sports Club describes its courts as "dry and sand filled". You won't get rained off. You just need to dress for outside. If you want the UK venues that are fully indoor, they're in our indoor padel courts guide, but that guide didn't find a fully indoor venue in Scotland either.
Game4Padel Thistle, EH14
Two covered courts at the recreation ground on Katesmill Road, EH14 1JF, open 08:00 to 22:00 every day. You book on MATCHi.
Prices are per player, not per court, which is unusual and makes it cheap. Non-members pay £7 on weekdays before 5pm and £9 after, and £9 at weekends. Members pay £5 and £7. A full court of four non-members costs £28 to £36 for the hour.
Two things catch people out. Rackets come from lockers at the court, £4 a game per player, with a £40 deposit. And balls are not provided. Turn up with a tube. The club asks you to arrive five minutes early if you need to hire.
Lessons were listed at £16 (£14 for members) for beginners and intermediates, plus a Ladies Morning at £24.
Game4Padel Edinburgh Park, EH12
At 1 New Park Square, Edinburgh Park, EH12 9GR. The MATCHi page lists "2 covered or 3 outdoor" padel courts, so this is the only venue in this guide where you can pick a cheaper outdoor court on a dry, still day.
It's open 07:00 to 22:00 daily, the earliest start on this list. Covered courts are £7 or £9 per player for non-members, like Thistle, but the cheaper weekday rate runs until 5.30pm here, not 5pm. Outdoor courts are £1 cheaper per player in every slot. Floodlights are free.
Same rules as Thistle: rackets from the lockers at £4 a game with a £40 deposit, and no balls provided.
It has the widest lesson menu in the city. Intro to Padel, Beginners, Improvers and Intermediate classes were all listed at £16 (£14 for members), in groups of up to six. The Improvers class is pitched at people who can hit basic shots but struggle with the walls and the bandeja. If that's you, it's a good next step.
Edinburgh Sports Club, EH4
At 7 Belford Place, EH4 3DH. The club's pay and play page calls the padel "covered". The LTA lists three courts.
This is the one to book if you want a simple court price. It's £40 an hour, so £10 each for four. You register for an account online, and pay and play bookings open six days ahead, from 1pm. You can cancel up to 24 hours before for a full refund. Pay and play players must report to reception when they arrive.
Watch the hours. The club is open 09:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and Sundays, but closes at 18:00 on Saturdays. There's a café bar and restaurant for after.
Powerleague Portobello, EH15
At 10 Westbank Street, EH15 1DR. Three canopied, panoramic courts on Playtomic, open 09:00 to 22:30 every day. That's the latest finish in Edinburgh.
If you've never played, start here. Playtomic showed free Intro To Padel classes on Wednesday and Friday daytimes, an hour long, for levels 0 to 2. An intermediate session on game situations and point play was £15. Court prices weren't shown on the listing.
Free parking, changing rooms, lockers, equipment rental and a snack bar are all listed.
Also on the LTA list: The Grange Dyvours on Portgower Place, EH4 1HQ, with two outdoor covered courts booked through ClubSpark. Check its page for who can book.
And a club option: David Lloyd Edinburgh Shawfair says it has "three dedicated outdoor courts", booked on its app. Its page points you to membership enquiries, so check how you can book before you go. The LTA notes that Tennis Scotland's Padel Scottish Cup has recently been hosted there.
Out west: Powerleague Paisley
For anyone in Glasgow or the west, Powerleague Paisley at Anchor Grounds, Blackhall Street, PA1 1TD has four courts. Its Playtomic listing calls them "canopied courts designed for all-weather play", and it's open 09:00 to 22:30.
Its listing had the fullest programme of any venue here. In mid-October it showed coached sessions on overheads, the bandeja and vibora, and playing off the glass at £10 each, Over 50s Matchplay Coaching at £15, a Thursday Social Americano at £12, and level-banded Americanos for beginners, intermediates and advanced players at £22.50 for three hours.
What to bring to an Edinburgh court
Since you're playing outside under a roof, pack for outside.
- Balls. Essential at both Game4Padel sites.
- A card for racket hire, unless you own one.
- A warm layer for the warm-up and the waits. Wear the Mk1 Box Hoodie in and leave it by the court door. It's 350 g/m2 with a fleeced inside, in an oversized boxy cut with a drop shoulder. Take it off when you're warm. It goes back on the second you stop.
- Something for your legs. Heavyweight fleece joggers over your shorts for the walk in and the drive home.
- A hat. An organic ribbed beanie for the walk from the car and the warm-up.
Sizes for every piece are in the size guide. UK delivery is free on orders of £75 and over, Scotland included, so the hoodie ships free on its own. For a full cold-weather layering plan, see our winter padel guide.
Clubs in the rest of the UK are in our padel clubs UK guide, and if you're wondering why one club uses MATCHi and the next uses Playtomic, the booking apps guide explains it.
